Oh, yeah. Anyway, our penultimate question is one of the most common we get asked. By virtue of this, nearly every librarian in the system has experience with it and has their own way of finding the answers. So what is your way? Please give us your thoughts!

I like to use AT&T's database - www.anywho.com - to look up phone numbers and addresses.
ReplyDeleteReferenceUSA's database is good. I use it a lot. One of the nice things about it is you can search by address. I once had a customer ask me what the phone number was to the convenience store at the corner of an intersection. He didn't know the name of the store, but I was able to find it with ReferenceUSAs address search.

Where can I find email addresses?
ReplyDeleteLately anywho.com has been better than switchboard.com because switchboard requires you to click on each entry in order to retrieve the phone numbers. I used anywho just yesterday for someone and it worked really well. RefUSA is especially good if you have the exact name or address.
ReplyDeleteGoogle has added an address database; type in the name, city and state and if it is listed, it will give you the phone number, address and a map link.
